Meet the ORMTA Sault Ste. Marie branch. Based out of the beautiful community of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, these fabulous instructors and board members are passionate about fulfilling ORMTA's mission.

Meet our Members

Meet the members from the ORMTA Sault Ste. Marie Branch! This passionate group of musicians are dedicated to providing the highest caliber of music education and to promote exceptional standards of music in each community

Hollie Filice received an Honours Bachelor's Degree in Music and Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University.  She holds an A.R.C.T. in Piano Performance and an A.R.C.T. in Piano Pedagogy from the Royal Conservatory of Music. Hollie was a participant in the Royal Conservatory Summer Institute and has participated in many masterclasses with internationally renowned artists.

 

Since 1995, Hollie has had a successful private music studio where she instructs piano, theory, harmony and music history.  A passionate and inspired teacher, she prepares students for recitals and RCM examinations where they can demonstrate their musicality and accomplishments.  As a teacher for the Algoma District School Board, Hollie is Head of the Arts Department at White Pines Collegiate and Vocational School, where she instructs students in brass, woodwind, percussion, vocals, musical theatre and piano keyboard.  

Agnes McCarthy leads a busy life as Director of Sault Ste. Marie’s Northern Arts Academy, providing comprehensive multidisciplinary training for singers with diverse musical interests. She also currently serves as a music specialist with the Algoma District School Board and is an Adjunct Professor of Voice and Voice Coordinator at Algoma University.

Agnes has spent her professional career in Sault Ste. Marie deeply involved in the musical life of the community as a teacher and performer. She is an active member of the Sault chapter of the ORMTA and currently serves as treasurer. She has collaborated with The Sault Symphony, The Algoma Chamber Players, The Chamber Singers of Algoma, The Algoma Festival Choir and with The Musical Comedy Guild of Sault Ste. Marie as Vocal Director for their productions of Les Misérables and Jesus Christ Superstar.

Paul Dingle brings a lifetime of professional experience to the NAA as a performer, collaborative pianist, conductor, clinician, adjudicator and teacher. Paul originally relocated to the Sault to work at Algoma University. As an Adjunct Professor he teaches music history, theory, popular culture, orchestral and choral conducting, audio arts, piano performance, and is Director of The AlgomaU Choir. Paul is also Organist & Choirmaster at Central United Church.

Paul has spent his professional career in Sault Ste. Marie collaborating in the musical life of the community as a teacher, conductor and performer. He is a member of the Sault chapter of the ORMTA and assists in coordination of the group’s events. He has partnered with The Algoma Conservatory of Music, The Sault Symphony, The Algoma Chamber Players, The Chamber Singers of Algoma, The Algoma Festival Choir, Algoma Fall Festival, The Northland Chorus and The Steeltown Silver Band. His long association with musical theatre includes serving as Musical Director for The Musical Comedy Guild of Sault Ste. Marie’s productions of She Loves Me, Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar, Mary Poppins and A Christmas Carol.

Susanne is a music educator who teaches piano, music theory, composition and improvisation. With 30 years of experience, she has explored classical and contemporary to the sacred realm of music. She leads worship at her church and is the choir director. Susanne has an associate degree from Conservatory Canada in Piano Pedagogy and an undergraduate degree in Sacred Music from Southeastern University (Lakeland, Florida.)

 

Enjoying students of all ages, she has a passion to see musicians flourish to the best of their ability. Her encouraging and bubbly personality helps to create a positive and productive learning atmosphere. Her students have participated in recitals, exams, festivals, workshops, community theater, worship services and some have furthered their studies in music. Susanne has been actively involved in the Sault Branch of the O.R.M.T.A since 2000 and is presently the secretary.
